INFORMATIONS

In the center of Genoa within 500 meters of the aquarium, the city of children, the ancient port, the museum, the sea, the national museum of Palazzo Spinola. In the heart of the historic city there is a mezzanine loft, created inside a medieval building, called "Palazzo Pellicceria". The palace was built in the 15th century and entered in the list of "Palazzi dei Rolli" in the 16th century. The building was seriously damaged during the naval bombardment of 9 February 1941 by the Royal Navy. Part of the medieval building has remained intact and in the 1950s the building underwent a massive restoration, preserving all the remaining medieval parts, and was used as a telephone exchange (SIP). Recently the building has been restored again bringing it (in a more modern key) to its original destination, i.e. a building dedicated to hospitality (of princes, cardinals, ambassadors and great merchants of the 16th century; of tourists nowadays.)

The Loft has a mezzanine, has very modern and comfortable furnishings, is functional and can accommodate up to five people.

The internal equipment of the loft are:

- kitchen complete with electric oven, microwave oven, induction hob with four burners, fridge and freezer, dishwasher.

- double bedroom on the mezzanine with exposed coat rack, chest of drawers, hanging bedside tables with two-intensity LED light and USB socket for phone/tablet charging etc.

- living room with double sofa bed and single ottoman bed.

- Bathroom with sink, toilet, bidet and shower. The mirror above the sink is equipped with lighting with two color gradations, one of which is ideal for make-up, it also has a defrost button that prevents fogging up during the shower.

In addition to the equipment inside the loft, in the common areas, which can be used free of charge, there are the following services:

On the floor and a few meters from the entrance door:

- equipped gym.

- meeting room.

- relaxation corner with sofas and armchairs.

- Toilet.

Furthermore, on the ground floor it is possible to use, for a fee, an industrial laundry complete with dryer, for the exclusive use of condominiums. Payment is made using a rechargeable card which can be requested at the time of booking.

FOOD & DRINK

CULTURE

Genoa and all of Liguria are famous for Pesto and focaccia. Do not miss a plate of trenette al pesto in one of the many restaurants in the alleys, you can find excellent ones in the area.

The focaccia deserves a separate discussion: this is eaten at all hours of the day, with a glass of white wine. The Genoese DOC do not disdain it in the morning at breakfast dipped in cappuccino (a feeling that you must try at least once in your life)

Ligurian cuisine is also varied and ranges from the sea to the mountains...

Worth a visit is Palazzo Spinola (on the square in front of the building) transformed into a museum. Then Palazzo Ducale, Via Garibaldi with its palaces, the various churches that you meet strolling through the alleys, the votive aedicules (*), the ducal palace, the seaside promenade of Corso Italia, the seaside village of Boccadasse where it is possible to reach the viewpoint of Capo Santa Chiara with a stupendous view of the gulf .... then get lost in the alleys (by day), and discover medieval forgotten and semi-abandoned ancient buildings which still retain their architectural magnificence superbly intact, despite massive interventions that have taken place over the centuries to come.

CHILDREN

Children (and adults) will have fun at the Aquarium, they will be able to visit the old galleon, the submarine in the dock, the sea museum, the children's city ... All within 500 meters of the apartment

(*) Genoa has always been a seafaring city, sailors have always been superstitious. In past centuries, going to sea was much more dangerous than now and in case of storms, sailors felt their lives were in danger and they invoked Saints, Madonnas and all the divinities they were devoted to, promising to have a shrine built in their honor if they managed to return home alive...

Walking through the historic center of Genoa and looking up, it is very easy to come across these votive aedicules, some very ancient, others more modern, all of good artistic value.

The proliferation of votive aedicules, in the fifteenth century (approximately), convinced the Doge of the time to take advantage of this custom, issuing an edict which imposed the construction of the latter "Near the crossroads and lit with candles or oil lamps for all night”.

Effectively inventing public lighting in the historic center and obtaining it for free. (...we are Genoese)
